On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with the preparation of Sabah Ibrahim Wesi, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with several distinguished personalities and media representatives, a ceremony was held for the handover of the presidency of Zakho University. During this event, Dr. Diyar Abdulkareem Saeed officially succeeded Dr. Nazim Suleiman Abdulaziz as the new president of the university.

In his speech, Sabah Ibrahim Wesi expressed gratitude towards Dr. Nazim Suleiman Abdulaziz, acknowledging his dedicated efforts and continuous support to the faculty, staff, and students during his tenure. He emphasized the university’s progress under his leadership and its advancement in academic and research fields. 

Dr. Diyar Abdulkareem Saeed, the newly appointed president was congratulated and given full support from the Ministry of Higher Education for his future responsibilities and aspirations in leading Zakho University toward continued success.
